Domestic Energy Assessors based in Nottingham

Providing EPCs for landlords, agents and homeowners in Nottingham, West Bridgford and surrounding areas

Energy efficiency is becoming more and more important as fuel bills are on the rise and global warming is increasing. The government have Minimum Energy Efficiency standards meaning that all rented residential properties currently require an E rating, but this may increase in future and many landlords are improving their properties to increase their attractiveness to tenants and future-proof for compliance.

The first step to knowing how efficient your building is, is having an up-to-date and accurate EPC. From there we can recommend the relevant steps required to improve the energy efficiency of your residential property.

EPC Ratings

Energy Services

Energy Performance Certificates

Energy Performance Certificates are required whenever a property is built, sold or rented, and last for 10 years. We aim to differentiate ourselves with the accuracy and thoroughness of our EPC’s, fast turnaround times, and post-EPC support in achieving your energy efficiency goals.

EPCs typically take 45 minutrs to 2 hours depending onthe size of the property.

More information can be found in the Guides section.

Energy Consultancy & MEES

Landlords may want help with increasing the EPC rating of their property to comply with MEES legislation, which in future will require all rented properties to reach a C.

We offer an upgraded service which builds on the EPC but will also include additional support. The process is:

  1. Initial Assessment

  2. Improvement suggestions and scenario modelling

  3. Improvement works

  4. Re-assessment

The first step is a visit where the property is assessed using the EPC software.

Following disussions about which measures you feel are more or less appropriate, and with some input from ourselves in terms of potential improvements to the rating, we can then make suggestions as to the most cost effective route to getting a C. This will usually be a combination of measures suggested by the EPC, and additional measures. This process will involve a “modelling scenario” which is using the initial assessment and then making the discussed changes to illustrate the eventual rating, this will give you the confidence to proceed with improvement works in the knowledge that they will be effective. This process will also be a lot more specific than the EPC, giving you a clear idea of what needs doing.

We can then revisit to produce a new EPC once any improvement measures have taken place.

Homeowner advice

For homeowners looking to understand how thermally efficient, or otherwise, their home is. This will take the form of a home-based session at your property, using the EPC as a framework and then a thorough explanation of all the findings and recommendations from the EPC, with a few additional hints and tips added in.

Additional services

Floorplans

Floorplans are an essential part of marketing a property, whether for sale or rental. We can provide this service whilst carrying out an EPC.

What is an EPC?

EPC’s were introduced in 2007 and measure the energy efficiency of a building, on a scale of A-G, A being the best, and G the worst.

EPC’s are required when a property is built, rented, or sold.

Higher rated properties should have lower fuel bills, and produce less CO2.

Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) were introduced in 2008 requiring all privately owned, rented properties to have a rating of E before being rented.

An EPC will tell you your properties overall rating, with specific sub-ratings for individual factors, as well as suggestions for improving the rating and efficiency of your building
